I finished this ring yesterday in my fabrication class, my third ring and second set stone. Moldavite and sterling silver. Here’s the wip from a month ago. It’s a bit wonky but I like it.

Moldavite is an impact glass that formed when a meteorite hit the Czech Republic nearly 15 million years ago. I found out about it months ago from a tumblr post and got a little bit obsessed.

It’s raw form is pretty gorgeous, I’d like to make pieces with these spikey specimens in the future. If you’re interested in it, beware that there are many people trying to sell fake moldavite. These two shops are great and have the real stuff.

People also claim it’s a powerful metaphysical stone. I’m naturally very skeptic of such things but I have an open mind.
